UBB MINERS MEMORIAL RECEIVES NEW CORPORATE PLEDGE

Conveyor Products Manufacturer Flexco Pledges to Donate $10,000

The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group announced on Thursday it received a $10,000 pledge to the UBB Miners Memorial project from Flexco, an industry leader in conveyor belt products.  “Flexco is delighted to offer our support to the construction of the Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial in Whitesville.  Our products have been used in the coal industry for decades and we are proud of the many friendships we have made over the years with the brave men and women who make coal mining a reality in this country.  Thank you for providing Flexco the opportunity to participate in a very fitting tribute,” said Richard A. White, President and CEO of Flexco.

Flexco’s $10,000 donation will be the conveyor product industry’s third large contribution to the UBB Miners Memorial. Prior to today’s pledge the UBB Miners Memorial had received donations from Martin Engineering and Stahura Conveyor Products. “We thank Flexco for their generous pledge to the project and remain impressed by the level of support the memorial group has received from the conveyor products industry,’ said UBBMMG President Sheila Combs.

Headquartered in Downers Grove, IL, Flexco provides global product support through subsidiaries operating in the United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, Germany, China, and South Africa. The company has been an industry leader in conveyor belt products since 1907 and employs over 500 people worldwide.

The Upper Big Branch Mining Memorial Group, INC is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) established in February of 2011 to raise funds to construct a memorial plaza located in Whitesville, WV. The memorial will commemorate the events that occurred at UBB, pay homage to all fallen coal miners and recognize the importance of the coal mining industry to the Mountain State.
